The Cous Cous Festival in San Vito Lo Capo

Cous Cous Fest: A Journey of Flavors in San Vito Lo Capo

In late September, San Vito Lo Capo (TP) hosts the Cous Cous Fest: an annual celebration of Mediterranean cultures and culinary traditions.
An international event that promotes integration, great music, entertainment, and excellent food. A tradition that has become a source of pride not only for San Vito Lo Capo but for all of Sicily!

The festival lasts just over a week — a truly "delicious" opportunity to discover this stunning corner of the Trapani province, with its crystal-clear sea, white sandy beaches, and two surrounding nature reserves that make it truly unique.

San Vito Lo Capo: A Mediterranean Paradise

This small slice of paradise on Sicily’s northwestern coast transforms into the beating heart of the Mediterranean during the festival. San Vito Lo Capo becomes the stage for the Cous Cous Fest, one of Italy’s most anticipated cultural and gastronomic events.
But Cous Cous Fest isn’t just about food — it’s a tribute to cultural exchange, a celebration of diversity, togetherness, and dialogue among peoples.

Each evening, the town comes alive with free concerts, theater performances, literary events, and cooking shows. The stage has hosted both Italian and international artists such as Mahmood, Max Gazzè, Carmen Consoli, and Noemi, turning the town into an open-air festival under the stars.

Between tastings, visitors can wander the quaint alleys of the fishing village, stroll along the seafront promenade, or relax on the famous Caribbean-style beach, where sunsets light up the sky in shades of orange and pink.

Celebrating Cous Cous: Curiosities and Culinary Competition

Cous cous is a humble, ancient dish born among the dunes of the Maghreb and carried over centuries of migration and cultural exchange to Sicilian shores.
In San Vito Lo Capo, cous cous takes center stage: each participating country presents its own version, from traditional Tunisian and Moroccan recipes to creative gourmet interpretations with Italian, exotic, or vegetarian ingredients.

The highlight of the festival is the International Cous Cous Competition, where chefs from around the world compete in front of a panel of experts (and a hungry audience!) for the title of Best Cous Cous in the World.
