Clean Sea in Ragusa - Sicily

The Blue Flag award is an internationally recognized mark of excellence! It's annually bestowed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a non-governmental organization based in Denmark working to promote sustainable development practices.

The criteria for awarding this recognition, as mentioned in a previous article, include the following areas: Water quality; Environmental management; Environmental education and Information; Services and Safety.

Therefore, coastal areas aspiring to receive this recognition must be locations of great attraction, beauty, and environmental quality.

Once again, in 2023, the Blue Flag was awarded to the following Sicilian locations in the Ragusa area:

Modica – Maganuco, Marina di Modica

Ispica – Santa Maria del Focallo

Pozzallo – Pietre Nere, Raganzino

Ragusa – Marina di Ragusa.

These are 4 out of the 11 best seaside locations in Sicily, reaffirmed this year as evidence of their attention to the environment, sustainable development practices, land protection, as well as the quality of services provided.

Visiting this part of Sicily, therefore, is synonymous with well-being!

And if you want to dedicate a few days to other experiences besides the sea, the choices are vast and stunning:

We are indeed in the Ragusa area, in the heart of the Val di Noto, with fairy-tale cities and villages. Among these, Scicli, which Vittorini defined as "the most beautiful city," but also Modica and Ragusa Ibla.

Excursions, food and wine itineraries, cycling, and trekking will complement the beach and excursions in the clear and award-winning blue sea.

Choosing the Hotel: Pietra d'Acqua is the Resort among the Blue Flags

Given that it's worth spending a holiday by the sea in the province of Ragusa, the hotel should be chosen carefully because sleeping well and waking up amidst beauty and professionalism makes a difference.

Pietra d'Acqua Natural Retreat & Spa Resort is located just minutes from the seaside locations awarded the Blue Flag. It's in the territory of Scicli, but close to the sea, boasting a strategic position.

Sophisticated and cozy rooms; excellent breakfast and quality restaurant; splendid infinity pool; a spa for rejuvenation and relaxation.

A perfect oasis that adds quality and sustainability to the well-deserved Blue Flags.
